SUSTAINABILITY

Being better Patrons

We're founded on the goal of helping more people become better patrons of the grounds and games they love. This leads all aspects of our business, from sourcing better-for-you, plant-based fabrics to choosing compostable packaging options.

Our Materials

Our Maverick Polos and Performance Shirts are almost entirely made from plants, not plastic.

If you look at most performance shirts and golf polos on the market today, you’ll find that nearly all of them–even the most high-end–are composed of 80-100 percent polyester. Even when using recycled materials, studies show that polyester and its microfibers are the most significant contributors to microplastic contamination in our homes, the environment, and the human body.

We knew there had to be a better way to get the benefits of high-perform

Tencel Modal

Tencel Modal

From the start, we knew creating sustainable, non-toxic alternatives to the leading performance shirts wouldn’t move the needle unless they were also comfortable. That super-soft, breathable feel when you put on one of our Maverick Polos? That’s thanks to trees. Our Maverick Polos and Performance shirts are made from 45% Modal, a natural raw material from tree wood, and produced using environmentally responsible processes. Modal is also antimicrobial, absorbent, and incredibly soft. (On your skin and the earth).

Bio-Nylon

Bio-Nylon

Any good performance shirt must withstand heat and sweat. That’s why we use durable, plant-based Nylon. Plant-based nylon is strong and durable, with high tensile strength and resistance to wear and tear. It can withstand heavy exposure to the sun and wicks sweat to keep you comfortable. Made primarily of corn and castor beans, this blend is the perfect alternative to petroleum-based Nylon found in other performance garments.

We sweat the details at Patron, down to the buttons. You won’t find any plastic buttons on any of our garments. We use real shells made of compostable, renewal mollusk shells on our golf polos.

Our Sustainable Pledge

We pledge never to stop trying to be better Patrons of the earth. We’re not perfect, but we’ll never stop working to find new solutions that reduce microplastics and minimize our carbon footprint.

As of today, every item we sell is made of 100 percent biodegradable, non-toxic material. Our shirt blends are made of 94 percent plant-based material. We strive to make all our clothing 100 percent plant-based by 2026. We use only low-impact dyes that are non-toxic and eco-friendly.

Recycling and Composting Your Patron Items

Every item made at Patron is built with high-quality materials designed to last. But they are also fully biodegradable. When ready to part with your Patron items, we recommend donating them to a reliable second-hand shop. We’ve even linked a few of our favorites below.

If your shirt has too much wear and tear to be recycled, we’d love to help you compost it. Our Patron items are 100 percent biodegradable, but they may take a while to break down in soil fully. Send your garment back to us and we’ll send it to a composter and send you 10 percent off your next order, to thank you for being a great patron.

Sustainable Packaging

Our packaging is 100 percent compostable. Once you dig into your order, you can take our package straight to your compost pile or backyard, and it will degrade within 6 weeks.

Ethical manufacturing practices are crucial to our patronage. That’s why we work only with manufacturers who ensure fair labor practices and prioritize sustainability.
